ACEO® Presents Multi-Material 3D Printing with Silicones

WACKER’s ACEO® team has developed a method to print multiple materials at the same time – a milestone in 3D printing with silicones. Their technology will be first presented during formnext powered by tct 2017 in Frankfurt, Germany.

Taking 3D Printing with Silcones to the Next Level

ACEO® has developed a technology to 3D print multiple materials at the same time. Their unique process will be presented as a world premiere during the upcoming formnext powered by tct in Frankfurt, Germany, from November 14th-17th, 2017. 3D printing with silicones is a technology ideal for functional prototypes, biomodels and small product series. It allows to create inner structures of the part and what ACEO® refer to as “impossible objects”, i.e. objects that could not be produced with any other technology before.

Dr. Bernd Pachaly, Head of Project 3D Printing, explains: “This latest development is yet another milestone in ACEO®‘s history. Silicones of different colors, hardness or even chemical or physical properties can now be placed independent from each other at any given point throughout the process, which allows sharp as well as merging gradients. The result: even more freedom of design in the construction of objects with multiple materials 3D printed in one single process, in particular soft and hard segments.”

When ACEO® first introduced its technology in 2016, the development of their system solution was a milestone in additive manufacturing. Their silicones were the first elastomers which can be 3D printed while maintaining their outstanding properties such as temperature and radiation resistance or biocompatibility. ACEO® developed both hardware and software for their unique material and technology, and launched the world’s first web shop for 3D printing with silicones.

In July 2017, ACEO® opened their Open Print Lab in Burghausen to offer tailor-made 3D printing programs for customers. Participants will go through individual trainings, consisting of theoretical and printing sessions from additive manufacturing basics to advanced design. This first-hand experience helps to understand how ACEO®‘s system solution matches the customers’ needs and gives valuable insights for future product design.
